Please Do Not Pay To Have Bees Killed
by Robert H. Evans, CWCP, Syracuse , NY

The discovery of CCD or Colony Collapse Disease has forced the plight of the honey Bee into national prominence.

This tiny insects health has wide ranging consequence for us Homo Sapiens. With out these pollinators our food supply would be compromised.

This has prompted the ice cream maker, Haagen-Daiz to fund research to find a cause and a cure. The University of Pennsylvania as well as the Dyce Laboratories Of Cornell University in New York and many others are working with bee keepers nation wide to stem this epidemic.

The Honey Bee or Apis Melifera are also under attack from a disease called nosema, that causes diarrhea and a variant nosema ceranae, both American and European foulbrood.

Parasites,Verro/Tracheal mites,small hive beetles,pestcides and man?

It is the honey bees sex life that gets them in the most problems with humans!

The colony or hive is controlled by the Queen who is the sole leader of a bee colony and she is the only female allowed to breed and raise offspring. The Queen is born in a wax cell that is longer and placed differently than the wax comb used for honey and brood storage. When she hatches her first duty is too destroy any other Queen cells and kill the undeveloped Queen.Next she dryes her wings and feeds for her maiden flight. While she is outon her maiden flight up to twenty (20) Drones, the male will breed her, this can be seen by the male organs that break off still in the Queen!

When she returns to the hive she will begin her reign.
So what happens to the old Queen? This is what causes our problem as honey bee removers.

The old Queen is put on a diet so she can fly just prior to the new Queens birth. She then takes
half the workers,30,000 to 50,000 female workers and a few drones and leaves the hive.

It is these Swarms that are seen finding a new home. Swarms are ball shaped clusters of 30,000 bees or more hanging off a bush or other structure. These swarms are used by the bees to establish new territories.

Removal of these swarms have become a job for the wildlife professional .Not all removals are simple. Some can involve complex structural removals? To access the colony requires a knowledge of the honey bee and building construction. We advocate the non-chemical
live removal of the bees so they can do what they were designed for pollenation of our food
supply.

Killing bees is harmful to the environment and it never solves the problem. Of all the products that bees make the most valuable to the hive is the wax comb as it is recycled for years, fifty year old feral colonies have been found!

In a managed hive I know of a ninety year old frame of comb? If comb is left in the cavity the next swarm that comes near will use that comb? The comb has to be removed to keep the infestation from recurring this is a job for trained professionals.

We offer a Real Green Non-chemical removal system for this problem. A system can be designed for sensitive properties with recurring problems. We have insured technicians that specialize in working with honey bees.

You can contact one of these bee experts at their office or by mobile unit 24 hours a day. We can schedule work or perform emergency measures to suit
